Siobhan McArdle – St. Joseph’s Primary School

I have been teaching in St Joseph’s for 24 years and have been the principal for 5 years. After being employed as a young teacher in St Joseph’s in charge of primary 1, the school choir, Music, Science and Geography as well as being netball coach, I began to live my dream and loved every minute of it. Having acted up as principal for a few months, I aspired to this role, especially since it was in St Joseph’s. My approach is always to involve the whole staff in decisions as a team and to ensure that everything is for the benefit of the children. I firmly believe a warm caring ethos must be the foundations for every child to learn and has been my passion since taking on this very important role, that I have been entrusted to do. Making sure every child feels valued and included is vital. Being principal of St Joseph’s and working with brilliant staff, amazing children and supportive parents has been a great honour for me, as this school is very close to my heart and has been for the last 24 years.
