Mary’s involvement with Moyle Primary School started as a parent and she began volunteering at the school over 18 years ago as an active member of the PTA, raising thousands of pounds to benefit the pupils.
After qualifying as a classroom assistant Mary responded to the wishes of the parents by starting a breakfast club, soon followed by the All Sorts Club eighteen years ago. Hundreds of children have come through Mary’s care and she is known by so many within the local community. The children experience hands on activities, crafts and an annual fun day when inflatables are hired for an excellent experience. A year ago Mary had a vision to turn an unused outdoor area outside the hall into an outdoor play area for the After Schools Club. With little money she liaised with local businesses to provide an area that the children love to play in and it enhances the outdoor learning that takes place during curriculum time. On top of her morning and afternoon work, Mary is a classroom assistant in a Learning Support class for children with a range of additional needs.
